Today’s Figment NYC public participatory art event at Lighthouse Park and other locations around Roosevelt Island was a great success. Worries after the Cherry Blossom Festival overcrowding disaster about Roosevelt Island being overwhelmed by visitors did not happen. Instead, Roosevelt Island residents and visitors enjoyed a beautiful day with the more than 1 hundred art installations.
Roosevelt Island’s NYC Council Member Ben Kallos interviewed Figment NYC organizer David Koren this morning
Great job by the Figment NYC organizers, RIOC Public Safety Department, NYC Emergency Management, CERT Team Members, NYPD and the MTA keeping everybody safe.
and today the Figment NYC Land Boat took a final trip around Lighthouse Park to the tune of I’m A Native New Yorker. The final event of 2019 Figment NYC at Roosevelt Island’s Lighthouse Park was performance of the Monkey King which was developed at Main Street Theatre & Dance Alliance. Unfortunately, the Monkey King performance was shortened due to a late afternoon thunderstorm.
